- What is the minimum rental age and driving license requirement for renting a car in Iceland?

With Ring Rental, you can rent a car from the age of 18. A young driver fee applies to drivers aged 18–20. All drivers must have held a valid driving licence for at least 12 months. For motorhomes, the minimum age is 25, and drivers must have held their licence for at least 24 months.
- Can I rent without a credit card?

Yes. If you choose our Platinum Protection package, you can rent with a debit card instead of a credit card.
- Do I need a 4x4 to drive around Iceland?

For a summer trip on the Ring Road and other main roads, a standard car may be enough. A 4x4 can be a better choice if you plan to travel on permitted Highland roads or want a vehicle suited to rougher routes. Always check road conditions and your vehicle’s driving restrictions before setting off.
- Can I pick up my rental car at Keflavík Airport?

Yes. Ring Rental offers a complimentary shuttle between Keflavík International Airport and our nearby rental office. After collecting your luggage, head to the arrivals hall and meet our representative by the ATM near the main exit.
- Where do I return my rental car?

Return your vehicle to our office at Bogatröð 2, 262 Reykjanesbær. After the return inspection, our complimentary shuttle will take you and your group to Keflavík Airport.
- Is insurance included in the rental price?

Yes. Your Ring Rental price includes Third Party Liability (TPL), Collision Damage Waiver (CDW), Super Collision Damage Waiver (SCDW) and Gravel Protection (GP). You can choose additional protection if you want to reduce your excess further. Check your booking details for the applicable excess and coverage.

Yes. Ring Rental lists unlimited mileage for vehicles in its fleet, giving you the flexibility to plan a short trip or a longer drive around Iceland.
- Can I drive a Ring Rental car on F-roads?

Only vehicles specifically approved for F-roads may be driven on them. Check the restrictions for your chosen vehicle before booking. Road access and conditions can change, and water damage from river crossings is excluded from the protection packages.
